GEMMS is an NIHR Global Health Research Group working across India, Cambodia, Nepal, South Africa and Zimbabwe to strengthen evidence, capacity and policy action on migration, gender, mental health and health systems. The programme brings together academic, policy and community partners to understand how migration and intersecting social inequalities shape health and wellbeing, particularly among marginalised migrant populations and gender minorities. Through mixed-methods research, governance and policy mapping, participatory engagement, and capacity strengthening, GEMMS aims to generate context-sensitive evidence that can inform more equitable, inclusive and responsive health systems. Building on works done and partnerships developed by MIHSA, GEMMS works remain closely aligned to MiHSA’s commitment to advancing migrant health, intersectional equity and socially just public health research across the Global South.
